Pre-Production: Thriller/horror movie style

Due to the treatment deadline, I had the chance to discover a style of thriller and horror movies, which is the genre my group is going to produce during this module.

To begin, Horror film is a genre that creates a sense of fear, panic, alarm, and dread for the audience. Usually, horror films include an evil force or person, sometimes mythical creatures such as ghosts, vampires, and zombies. Undoubtedly, Horror films show large amount of violence and gore in the plot. Though it has its own style, Horror film often overlaps into Fantasy, Thriller, and Science-Fiction genres.

Our movie will also use thriller genre and its style, to keep the audience alert and on the edge of their seats. Due to the surprising and scary plot, the spectator will feel ucertain and interested till the end of the movie.

·      Firstly, we have to begin the scary event and introduce the characters- who may POSSIBLY be a victim and who can be a murderer.
·       The warning- the first clues that something is wrong begin popping up. In this case- the wall full of pictures of the victim, going back home alone through the dark woods, hearing creepy voices behind.
·      The Point of No Return: Suddenly, something happens that makes all the characters aware that they are in a terrible situation. The main character , however, may ignore these signs or just not take them seriously.
·       The final scenes- the audience will finally see that all mysterious circumstances lead to a murder; a victim will see the face of a friend, who becomes a stalker and murderer. The spectator can now put all the puzzles together and see that the surprising end makes sense.

I will try to put the emphasis on the pacing of the movie during editing- use of variations of tight and long shots, short and long takes and moving and stationary shots to visually provide an effective succession of images, emotions and ideas. I will use quick cuts and scenes to build the excitement and confusion.
